TBI arrests former Decatur County jailer for having sexual relations with a female inmate

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested a former Decatur County Jail correctional officer for having sexual relations with an inmate at the jail.

Scotty Maness, 26, of Linden, Tenn. was indicted yesterday by the Decatur County grand jury on one count of sexual contact with an inmate and one count of official misconduct and turned himself into a TBI agent this afternoon. The 24th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI investigate Maness in August of 2013. The investigation revealed that between May 2012 and August 2013, while working at the Decatur County Jail, Maness had sexual relations with a female inmate on three occasions while she was incarcerated in the jail.

Maness was arrested this afternoon at the Decatur County Jail and booked on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 24, 2013.
