TBI Fugitive From Claiborne County Captured in Kentucky

NASHVILLE – A New Tazewell man who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top Ten Most Wanted list on January 4th is now in custody in Laurel County, Kentucky.

Rick James Brock was captured Thursday evening by U. S. Marshals. A tip earlier in the day led officers to Brock’s brother’s residence at 133 East Fifth Street in London, Kentucky. Brock’s brother is expected to be charged by U.S. Marshals for harboring him.

Rick Brock, 51, was wanted by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for four counts of Rape of a Child and four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

Claiborne County Man Added to TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has a new addition to the state’s Top Ten Most Wanted list, Rick James Brock of New Tazewell.

Rick Brock is wanted by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for four counts of Rape of a Child and four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

Brock is a 51-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s 5 feet 10 and weighs around 206 pounds, and has a tattoo of a lion on his right arm. Brock has a violent criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Claiborne Deputy Fired, Arrested & Charged Following TBI Extortion Investigation

KNOXVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested a now former Claiborne County deputy accused of extorting money from an individual he was investigating.

After receiving information from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, 8th District Attorney General Jared Effler requested TBI Special Agents investigate Robert Glenn Chadwell on June 16th. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Chadwell allegedly solicited money from an individual in exchange for not pursuing drug and weapons charges against him. On Thursday, during an undercover operation, Agents observed Chadwell accept $2,000 from the individual and request additional cash as part of the agreement. The department subsequently terminated Chadwell’s employment.

Thursday night, TBI Agents arrested Chadwell, charging the 49-year-old Tazewell man with one count of Extortion and one count of Bribery by a Public Servant. He was subsequently booked into the Claiborne County Jail early this morning, where at the time of this release, he was being held on $500,000 bond.

Claiborne County man charged with weekend homicide

Knoxville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged a Claiborne County, Tenn. man in the shooting death of another man in Tazewell over the weekend. The Tazewell Police Department and Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office also were part of the investigation.

 At approximately 8:00 p.m. on December 8, 2012, the Tazewell Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls for an incident that occurred at 2385 Old Highway 25-E, in Tazewell. There officers discovered one male victim shot multiple times. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Gary Butcher of Payne Circle, in Tazewell.  The victim got into an altercation with another man when the subject retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shot Butcher. The victim died at the scene. TBI charged Larry Hazelett, 64, of Williams Lane, of New Tazewell with one count of criminal homicide on December 9, 2012. He was booked into the Claiborne County Jail.
